WhatsApp Business API for e-commerce in India

Recover abandoned carts, send order updates, confirm COD orders, and bring past customers back — all on the WhatsApp Cloud API, with INR pricing built for Indian D2C brands.

Indian shoppers prefer WhatsApp over SMS, email, and most app notifications. For e-commerce and D2C brands selling in India, a well-run WhatsApp channel is no longer optional — it’s usually the highest-ROI growth lever you have after the storefront itself.

Flowgento gives e-commerce teams the WhatsApp Business API, templated broadcasts, a shared team inbox, and Click-to-WhatsApp ad attribution — in one place, at Indian-SMB-friendly pricing.

Use cases

Cart abandonment recovery

Trigger a polite WhatsApp template message when a customer leaves items in their cart. Indian conversion rates on cart-recovery WhatsApp messages typically beat email by an order of magnitude.

Order confirmations & status

Auto-send confirmation, shipped, out-for-delivery, and delivered messages. Reduce "where is my order" tickets without growing your support team.

COD verification

Most Indian e-commerce orders are still COD. Confirm via WhatsApp before dispatch to reduce return-to-origin (RTO) losses.

Payment links

Share a payment link directly on WhatsApp for converted-to-prepaid orders or repeat customers. Razorpay link support coming soon.

Win-back broadcasts

Segment customers who haven't purchased in 30/60/90 days and send a personalised broadcast with a relevant offer.

Click-to-WhatsApp Ads

Run Facebook and Instagram ads with a WhatsApp CTA. Conversations land directly in your Flowgento inbox, attributed to the source ad.

How it works

A typical Indian D2C brand on Flowgento sets up four core flows in the first week: cart abandonment, order status, COD confirmation, and a welcome message for new contacts. These four alone usually pay for the subscription several times over within the first month.

More mature teams layer on customer-segment broadcasts (last-90-days buyers, high-AOV customers, repeat purchasers), tag conversations by source (organic / paid / referral), and route different conversation types to different team members.

Because WhatsApp template approval lives with Meta, plan your templates in advance — utility templates (order status, COD verification) get approved quickly; marketing templates may need iteration.

Example templates

Start with these as a base — Meta still has to approve each one, so plan a couple of days for review.

FAQs

Can I integrate Flowgento with Shopify or WooCommerce?

Native Shopify and WooCommerce apps are on the roadmap. Today, you can wire either platform to Flowgento via our webhooks API — most stores get cart abandonment and order status flows live in a day. Zapier connector is also on the roadmap.

How do COD confirmations on WhatsApp reduce RTO?

Return-to-origin (RTO) is one of the biggest cost drains for Indian D2C brands. Sending a WhatsApp template asking the customer to confirm the order before dispatch identifies fake/accidental orders early. Confirmed orders ship; unconfirmed ones get cancelled before logistics cost is incurred.

Can I send promotional broadcasts every day?

Technically yes, but WhatsApp users block aggressive senders fast — and Meta penalises sender quality scores. Most successful Indian D2C brands send 2-4 thoughtful broadcasts a month and rely on triggered transactional messages (orders, COD, abandoned carts) for the rest.

What does it cost to run e-commerce on WhatsApp?

Flowgento Starter is ₹499/month with 5 agent seats and unlimited messages from our side. Meta charges per conversation by category — utility conversations (order confirmations, COD) are cheaper than marketing. A typical Indian D2C brand sending 5,000 transactional + 1,000 marketing conversations a month will spend ~₹2,000-4,000 in Meta charges on top of Flowgento.

Do I need GST registration?

Most Indian e-commerce sellers are already GST-registered. Flowgento bills in INR with GST-compliant invoices if you provide your GSTIN — GST is not required to sign up, but most e-commerce businesses already have it.
